Printing Department - What REAL Winners!
So, there I am at the computer lab printing off 4 of my 150 pages alloted for an entire year when I notice that I have a dollar less than I had the last time I printed. Odd? Well, yes it is because I have printed maybe 20 pages (and that would be very very generous) since the semester started. So, I inquire with the lab aid as to how I can check on my account. And wouldn't you know it - he has no idea. And apparently they don't keep track. What is more idiotic is that when you send your print job to the printer it allows you to put in a password - so someone doesn't print your job by mistake - saving you money - but there is not a password required once you swipe your card and you must log off. If you don't log off, anyone can use the rest of your money and there is no way to track what you have spent on the card. Is this brillant or what? Talk about not protecting the user. I am careful to log off everytime I go but all of the sudden I am missing money. And to top it all off, there is no way to see what was printed on my card. Does this sound stupid to anyone else? Shockingly, this missing money appeared right after they were having trouble with the Uniprint system. (Yesterday, the printer was down when I tried to print because the Uniprint wasn't tracking the money properly) I am really leary about systems that do not allow you to double check them to make sure they are accurate. It is kinda like prepaying for a credit card and never recieving a bill or having a depleted bank account without a statement. Something is very fishy about this system. Where do my $263 in fees go anyway? The damn football team that sucks or the new union building I will never see. I guess it just goes along with paying for my associate's because I am getting a bacholer's. Yeah, I know that doesn't make any sense but when I told them that they said "That is just the way it works." I just love apathy - Don't you!
